Pure silver on its own is very soft and therefore not suitable for making jewellery. The silver jewellery collection that we have is made from sterling silver. This alloy contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.
- Quality Stamp
If you're paying for a high-quality silver item, make sure it has a “fineness” or “quality” mark. This mark indicates the pure metal content in the item. The mark must be accompanied by a registered trademark or a maker's mark.
- Different Alloys
Pure silver is extremely soft and malleable. This makes it appropriate only for products which require silver to be included in intricate designs. Sterling silver is the best alloy for jewellery making. This contains 92.5% of pure silver. When buying jewellery, lookout for marks which indicate this.
- Care
Keep your jewellery away from harsh chemicals. Store it in a soft pouch or in a jewellery box, separate from other items. This will keep it scratch free. Clean your silver jewellery on a regular basis with solutions than remove tarnish. Also, don't go swimming with your silver jewellery on. Chlorine is bad for silver. Keep your silver clean, safe and sparkling and it will last you long time.
